I don’t know that I can take this, although I am enjoying the ride.
The Mets won in dramatic fashion last night, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Carlos (Strike Three Looking) Beltran ripped a single down the first base line to drive in the winning run in the 9th last night. (This of course after David Wright was unable to produce in the Clutch, again).
The Mets are now one game behind the Phillies in the NL East, and tied with the Brewers for the wildcard.
What this all means is that this has now become a Three Team, Three Game Playoff for two spots.
The funny part is that it is that all three teams are playing different teams, at home for the next three games.
On top of all of this, there is a very real possiblity that the weather could be an issue in Philly and New York this weekend, increasing the chances that games will have to be played on Monday, not counting potential tie-breaker play-in games.
What a wild, wild ride. Last year I was numb to all of this, I felt like it was just a matter of time before the Mets rolled over.
Under the Gangsta, this Mets team has shown a remarkable resiliency. Even as bad as Wednesday’s loss was, and it was bad, this team comes back and wins a game like last night.
And… We Still have Johan.
